Sneak Peak

We have been so busy during the evenings.....the above picture is why....and thought I would share a sneak peak. We are finishing the front room tonight and I am decorating on Friday! I can't wait!!

Hubby is a perfectionist....so we are getting it just right before the big reveal. It sure does change the look of the room.

Stay tuned for more to come~!

Hoping everyone is having a great week. I promise to update more later on!

Deep Discussion....

Yes...Saturday during a long drive home, I was having a deep discussion with God about a couple of things....hey....if I am going to be in the car by myself for over 2 hours...I might as well get it off my chest.

In the middle of the drive and rain storm.....I saw the most amazing and beautiful sign....and tried to take a couple of snapshots from my cell phone.

Truly amazing colors!

Thank you God for always reminding me of your promises!

Busy weekend ahead

I am heading out of town again tonight after work. I have a 31 party this evening, a baby shower tomorrow morning and another party Saturday afternoon. The great thing about all of it is that they are all near my parents home so I will just be staying with them. And I get to see family too.

Hubby is staying home to do stuff around the house and I can't wait to get back home Saturday evening and finish up some projects we need to finish. BB is staying home too and I am hoping she eats and goes to the bathroom; she wouldn't go last weekend while I was gone! (I know! Info you may not have wanted to know!!)

Anyways....have a great weekend!! I will update more once I return!

Day 3 - Girls Weekend

The third day of our weekend we spent the day at a much slower pace. We hit a few outlets in Griffin's town and then decided that we needed bean burritos for Taco Bell. They were so yummy! We then decided to try some random place for pedis and manis. Oh my! It was an experience to say the least! I have never had so much oil put on my legs. I begged for a towel and the lady told me it would dry! I had to wipe it down with napkins from Panera Bread later in the day. Griffin and Jurist's nails looked like a 5 year old painted them....we still laughed about it all though and enjoyed our time together.

Sunday evening, Ant and Ab joined us for dinner at Houlihan's. The food was great...service was not quite up to par.
We then headed home and crashed....the late nights caught up with us and I think we were in bed before 10!
Monday morning I had a delicious breakfast from Ab's favorite spot, the Train Station. It was a perfect ending to the weekend. The weather had turned significantly cooler that day and rain was in the forecast. How did we end up so lucky with weather?
I had the best time! And miss these girls already! Looking forward to our next get together....whenever that may be.

Girls Weekend - Day 2

On Saturday morning we awoke to some yummy bagels and coffee. And we also got to meet Shelly, the guinea pig. Ab's wanted us to be sure we watch her eat and then I had the pleasure of carrying her back to her pin. Aren't they cute??

Then it was off to Woodburry Common's on an absolutley perfect weather day!

We shopped all day and by the end...the bags were HEAVY~!
One of the highlights of the day is that we all bought matching PJ pants from Gap. Aren't they cute?? And to top it off...they are so comfy!

We spent the night at Griffin's house and had lots of fun! It was definitely a girl sleepover and we laughed so much and stayed up really late, ate some yummy chinese food and late night snacks and Griffin made us her yummy chocolate martini's. Two nights in a row of staying up late....I sure can tell that I am getting old...as I don't handle the late night hours as much anymore..it has taken me almost the entire week to recoop.

I took the weekend off from running...and I am paying for it dearly this week! I am finally getting back into the groove of things...just a couple of weeks left before the 5K. I am working on it...some days I am more motivated than others. Today I am actually full of energy and did really well at the gym this morning. Let's hope it continues. I sure did enjoy my time off though!!

Girls weekend Part 1

Friday morning I flew out to Jersey to spend the weekend with two of my greatest friends, Griffin and Jurist. All went well with my flight, no delays and landed in Newark to beautiful sunshine and 70 degree weather.

I was quickly reminded that I was on the east coast by the hustle and bustle of the people in the airport. I was picked up promptly by the ladies and off we went to my old stopping ground. Our first stop was to my previous employer, to check out all the remodeling and to see all the wonderful people I use to work with. I got the grand tour and it really felt like I had never left. I was even treated to lunch by my old boss and had lunch with a couple of my other favorites from work.

Then off to the mall we went….we had just enough time to hit some of our favorite stores before our makeovers at bare escentuals. For the next two hours we played with makeup!! We had so much fun and I must say we looked and felt great afterwards!
Before.....
After....

We then went to pick up Jurist’s little girl, Abs, from school. I was so excited to see her! We met up with another former coworker of mine, SH, at one of my favorite restaurants, Maggianos! Dinner was delicious and I enjoyed catching up on the latest news.

The end of our evening on Friday night was one of my favorite parts of the weekend. We headed back to Jurist’s house and her hubby, Ant, had started their fire pit and picked us up ingredients for Smores! I felt like we were teenagers sitting around the fire in comfy clothes….we laughed SO MUCH and I am sure their neighbors heard us. Oh what fun we had.

Hot Pink Nail Polish

While on my trip to Jersey, my friends and I got pedis and manis on Sunday afternoon. The polish I picked out for my toe nails and finger nails is a hot pink color. I have never received so many comments about my nails before. It is so BRIGHT! I love it...it's fun and different...but a definite change from what I normally get. Everytime I look down while I am typing it just makes me smile. Ahh...the littlest things truly make me happy.
I have been promising a weekend update...and it really is coming. I have been trying to catch up on all the things that we have going on at home and I will not be here again this weekend....so I must try and get as much done as possible.
Hubby and I are SICK of the mess that we are living in. I am heading home this afternoon to prime the walls and sand the trim and then he is coming home to paint. I am hoping we can finish by Thursday night before I leave Friday. I have ideas for decor...but will wait until I can get the room back together and the clutter gone. It sure is changing the look! AND I LOVE IT!
I am trying a new chicken recipe tonight...if it is a success it will be on my recipe blog. And I am going to post my mom's hamburger and corn casserole recipe. I made it last week and we just love it!!
My love dare will be updated soon too. I have just not had the time to sit down and type...it is coming though...I promise!
I must get some work done and then head home soon.

Exhausted

I am back home tonight and EXHAUSTED! I have been sharing all of my fun stories with my hubby and am so tired I am headed to bed...I will have to update tomorrow.

Above are my two favorite ladies from Jersey! Griffin is on the left and Jurist is on the right. We had so much fun and laughed a lot! I promise to give you all the low down on what all we did tomorrow.

Have a good night!

Oh almost forgot....we should have our front room done by this next weekend! It is really looking great!

My bed is calling my name...as my nephew says...nigh nigh
Heading home today. Had so much fun this weekend! Delayed at the airport due to weather. Not a surprise due to it being Newark airport. Will update tonight.

Day Three of girls weekend. Slept in this morning and are now getting ready to venture out to another outlet mall, get pedis/manis, and grab some lunch.

Saturday, April 18, 2009

A full day of shopping... Now back to griffins for chinese and looking at all of our purchases that have filled a 7 passenger SUV!
Day 2 of girls weekend! Having so much fun! Off to Woodbury Commons for outlet shopping! Woo hoo!

Friday, April 17, 2009

Happy friday! I am currently sitting in the airport on this cool morning. I still can't believe that I am headed to jersey!

Have a great weekend!

What a night

Well this certainly has been some night! I left work early so that I could go to the gym and run a couple of errands before heading home for the night. I pulled onto our block this evening and there was my hubby home at 5:00 and mowing the lawn! It was such a great surprise. He skipped the gym and wanted to come spend time with me before my big trip tomorrow.

We spoke with our neighbor for about an hour and I had just begun making cavatini for dinner and his work phone started going crazy! There was a huge accident with one of his techs...and he is now on his way to the jobsite this evening...so just me and Bella hanging out. I had better get packing....my flight leaves early in the morning!!

Never a dull moment around here.

Mini Getaway

Well..tomorrow I am out of here! I will be hopping on a plane and flying out east to spend the weekend with my two favorite girls from Jersey! We have been planning this trip for months and I haven't been back to Jersey in over a year! I am excited to see what all has changed!! heehee!

They have a packed full weekend of things to do while I am there and I promise lots of pictures will be taken! The main thing on our agenda is SHOPPING!! We are headed to the outlet mall on Saturday and I am hoping to find some great deals and some clothes for Spring!!

I have yet to pack, so you know what I will be doing tonight and my hubby is hoping to get a lot done in our front room while I am gone this weekend. I told him it would be a great surprise if I came back and he had it all done!! ( I know that is a lot of work...but it would be great!). He also mentioned that he is going to paint our 1/2 bath downstairs.....and I mentioned painting it in another color...and he agreed! So I am off to Lowes tonight to pick out the color!! I think I am going to stay in the brown family...but excited for it to be something different!

I am really excited and anxious for my trip! I even have all kinds of catalogs and magazines to take on the plane with me to plan my decor for our room! The best part about it is that the weather is going to be in the 70s while I am out there for two of the days!! I was so worried it would be cold. It doesn't really matter though as I am looking forward to hanging out with Griffin and Jurist!! We could just veg all weekend and I would be happy..nothing like a little bit of "girl" time to do us all some good!

Last night I played Bunco for my very first time. A few of the ladies in our subdivision started a group and we had our first gathering last night....it was so much fun! I really enjoyed myself and had a great time getting to know some of the other ladies who live in our area. We are meeting once a month and I am already looking forward to the next time!! Hubby said I should play more often as I came home in such a good mood!! Thanks Les for hosting!! You did a great job and dinner was yummy!!

That about wraps it up for me here...I will try and post a few comments while I am out in Jersey. I have now figured out how to post from my cell phone...pretty cool! And I am sure I will be posting lots of pics once I return on Monday. Hopefully, some updated house pictures too!

Have a wonderful weekend!!

So excited! I am working on something very exciting today! Can't wait to share it all with you. Probably won't be for a week...but should be awesome!

Falling Star

Hubby and I made a quick trip to Menards this evening after work and my parents met us there and we went out to eat dinner afterwards! I love living so close to my parents that we can do things like that....it is always great seeing them and I love their hugs!! Plus my mom gave us a couple of jars of homemade black raspberry jelly!!

Nothing says PB&J like homemade jelly!

On our way home, hubby was giving me a history lesson and we pulled onto our exit and couldn't believe what we were seeing...so plain and clear....a falling star....right there in front of us. It was so awesome! I have seen them before....but nothing so up close...it was amazing!

I made my wish too!! A great night indeed! Thanks Mom and Dad for hanging out with us for a bit! Love you!

Happy 34th Anniversary!

Yesterday was my parents 34th wedding anniversary! Happy Anniversary to the two of you! We drove up to their house on Saturday afternoon and surprised them with a plant and baskin robbins ice cream cake! My family was all there and we had a great visit together!

Wishing the best parents anyone could ask for many many more wonderful years together!! Thank you for your unconditional love and support that you have given to all of us over the years!

We love you!

Trim Project

Yesterday we began another project at our house! it was rainy and cold and we have been wanting to start this for a while now...We have begun adding trim decor to our front room(it will end up giving the room the looking of wainscoting once we are done) and entryway...we first cleared out the room.....with the exception of the sofa...We then began to hang the trim railing.....
Around the entire room.....

We then began hanging the boxes underneath the railing....we patched the nail holes....caulked all the way around everything....

And began priming......

That is as far as we have gotten so far...yes....living in another mess....but I can't wait till it's done and I can finally get this room to look like I have been envisioning it! So thankful to have a hubby who knows what he is doing! He just threw the pieces up like it was nothing! He also tried to teach me how to use the saw and about angles and such....but I told him I would just ask him when I need things like that done!!
Hoping you alll had wonderful weekends!

Deep Breath

Last night I began to feel sad. I can't deny it. I did. Ever had those nights? I sat in our family room while my hubby was upstairs in bed and I began to think...and think....and think...and was trying to figure out what was missing....what was wrong...why did I feel this way?

I began thinking about all the blessings in my life - my husband, step-son, parents, siblings and their spouses, nephew, grandpa, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and even strangers. I thought about how blessed we are to be living in the house we live in, have clothes, food, and plenty of everything else. We have jobs that pay the bills and we live in a country where we are free!

And then I took a deep breath...I sighed...and tears began to flow and I knew what it was. On my way home from work last night, I had called and spoke with my dad and then I had called and spoke with my sister....Muscleman arrived home and we chatted over dinner....you see...I can talk with with them all as much as I want...and it just isn't the same. Please understand...I love them all and know that they try and listen...but it's not her. I was scared for a moment and felt like I had forgot......forgot her voice...her touch...her hugs...her notes....that was it...."deep breath"....I miss my Grandma B...she was always so excited to talk and visit and everything I said was so important and sometimes I felt like she had some secret notepad as she would remember everything I said.....days...weeks...months even years later.

I quickly began to try and remember everything about her I could....and I mean EVERYTHING! I ran to one of her pictures just to catch a glimpse of her smiling face....I ran upstairs to my craft room and stared at the keepsake box I made of all her things....was I ready to open it and read? I just couldn't do it....instead...I picked up a book by Barbara Johnson..."Laughter from Heaven"...I began reading....I began smiling....I even giggled....if you have a chance to read it...you should...it will definitely lighten the mood! And it's light reading!! It's all about what is awaiting us in heaven. And I am sure there is laughter going on up there!

I put the book down after two chapters....and I sat in "Y"'s room....and I began thinking some more...You see...I miss both of my Grandmas B and K and my Grandpa K....I miss them dearly....but what is so comforting to know...and be reminded of is that I will see them all again and I hope and pray they are all standing at heavens gates one day ready to welcome me home.

Where am I going with all this you might ask?

Easter is this Sunday....and if you are a Christian...you and I celebrate on Sunday...the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross for us..... we are each individually given the opportunity to accept his gift and be forgiven for all of our mistakes in the past, present and future and we will be there to greet our loved ones in heaven and laugh with them again....without this gift....I am not sure what we would have to look forward to.

Life is not easy...and there will be more days where I miss my Grandma's B and K and all those loved ones that have passed on ahead of me...it's a given. But when I have moments like that...I am reminded that one day I will be with them again and for that I am ever so thankful!

God is an everlasting God that loves us all and it is our decision to make whether we choose to accept his love or not. It is a love that goes on and on forever. When I have more moments like last night...I will continue to turn to him and talk with him about what is on my mind...he is always there to listen and comfort me. His love for me is far greater than all of my grandparents love put together. How amazing is that?

Writer's Block

I have been in hit with a bit of writer's block....I just can't seem to figure out what to write about. There is anything too exciting going on right now and I can't decide on a topic.

I am in bit of a slump at work. I am tired and just not excited to go to work every day...and I know that we all go through days like that. I sit there all day and think of all the other things I wish I was doing. Ever had that problem? UGH! I don't know how to get out of it!

Home life is good....ok...it's okay...we are both ready for the warm weather to stay. So tired of the cold. Very thankful for the gorgeous day we had today! Bella and I took a long walk this evening around the trails and enjoyed watching deer run in front of us and checking out a couple of the neighbor boys trying to get their boat onto the pond. It was quite something!

Hubby is going through a slump right now and when he is going through one...so do I. He is missing "Y" and I do too. We can't convince "Y" to fly out to see us as he doesn't want to fly on a plane and at this point the only way he wants to see us if we fly out west to see him. The problem is that that costs more money... and that we won't get to see him as long as if he came to stay with us. We are both feeling frustrated and trying to figure out what to do....so if you have a moment...please say a prayer for the three of us. We are needing to figure this out together as a family.

Have I mentioned that we have new neighbors moving in at the end of the month?? I have ran into them twice and they are so nice! They have two little boys and I am so excited to have them in our block! Bella loves their boys and they seem to be very fond of her. I am sure there is going to be a lot more excitement soon going on around here! I am doing so well with Thirty-One. I can't tell you how blessed I feel! I am getting all my signage and items ready for a few parties at the end of the month and the expo in May! Lots to do and never enough time! I am working on a couple of sewing projects too! See why I can't focus on my full time job? UGH! I wish I could do Thirty-One and sewing full time! Maybe one day?

One more thing before I go.....I am counting down the days to hang out with my jersey girls! Griffin has the weekend planned out for us next weekend and it is jammed pack of fun things to do! I can't hardly wait....you will see at the top of my blog that it will be here soon! Have a great night....until tomorrow. :)

Sunday projects

Today I spent the day doing some projects while muscleman continued working on the garage....

I decided that our front door needed another little pick me up...have you heard of window film? It's the best! You can get it at Lowe's and it is really inexpensive. I changed out the one on our front door to something more clear and spring/summer like. It also let's more light into our front entryway...this picture it is kind of hard to tell....

This is a close up from inside looking out....I love the way it looks!

If you have a window that you find hard to cover and give you some privacy this is a great solution! They come in boxes like this...
I also made chocolate covered peanut butter eggs!! I am going to share them with those I work with tomorrow....they are so rich and yummy! The recipe is on my recipe blog.

We also picked up some paint samples....we are trying to decide what color to paint the family, dining and kitchen areas.....can you tell we are thinking more yellow/golden?? I have my favorites...but we aren't going to rush our decision. We want to make sure we make the right decision.

Laundry has also been a big project of mine as well as I made a trip out in the rain to get some new sneakers. As much as I am ready for some warm weather, I have enjoyed this day of cold and rain. There is nothing better than putting on my favorite pair of comfy pants and a sweatshirt and bumming around the house while watching I Love Lucy episodes.

Hoping you all have enjoyed your Sunday as much as I have!

Our special visitor today

I had first thought that I wouldn't include any words with this post...as you can see Little "I" came to hang out with us today! He was so good and had lots of fun exploring our house! I enjoyed watching him see what he could find. Needless to say...we are not baby proofed in our home....so he had his hands on everything!

One of his favorite places to hang out is our pantry...he always finds lots of things on the shelf to reorganize and there are no need for toys at our house...the colored sprinkle bottles are quite entertaining as he loves to walk around and shake them.

He also loved Uncle Muscleman's chair....

Bella (also known as "Lella") wasn't sure what to think....at first she was so excited to see him..but as the day progressed she just couldn't figure out why he kept coming back to her bed and saying her name and tried to pet her...
We also ventured outside a few times....it was nice and sunny...but pretty windy!
I turned around for one moment and found Little "I" trying to get into Bella's bed as he kept saying nigh nigh. (oh..and he was trying to reorganize my coupon holder today too)

As you can tell from the picture below...our house was over taken with lots of fun building blocks! Some of the reorganizing that happened today...in the kitchen.....

and in the pantry......

Uncle M took almost a three hour nap today....while he was napping we played in the front room and explored the upstairs and outside...when we came back in to play some more....Little "I" would run into the family room to make sure he was still sleeping and then say...."shhhhh". It was hilarious! He was so excited that he finally woke up so they spent some time rocking and he even took a little nap in his arms...
I had lots of fun today buddy! We loved having you here and can't wait to see you again! Our house is lonely without you! Thanks for letting him come stay at our house. It made it a wonderful Saturday!

Landscape project

So today while our special visitor was here....muscleman worked on our landscape...

Before....
After.....
He even mowed the front lawn today!

Lines

There is nothing better than spending my Friday afternoon in a line at the DMV. I went to register muscleman's truck this afternoon and got all the way through the line and found out I needed to go to another location for one more document. UG! The lady felt sorry for me...thankfully I had enough time to get there and back before they closed for the day....however...what I thought would take me 30 minutes...ended up taking almost an hour and a half! I know....Patience is what I kept telling myself.

I had enought time to swing by the store for a few items...picked up BB and headed home. Warmed up leftover chili for dinner....gobbled it down and then headed to Lowes. Why is that we always seem to find plenty of things to buy at Lowe's? It's as bad as Target. Goodness! We came out with more mulch for our front landscape....we thought we bought enough...but apparently not! Hubby will be going back tomorrow for A LOT MORE.

I took before pictures...and will post them with the after pictures once they are finished tomorrow.

Not a lot planned here for the weekend. We are having a visitor from a cute little guy tomorrow...can you guess who? yes...of course Auntie D will be posting pictures of him too! Going to get a few things done around the hosue...muscleman is doing landscaping and going to try and finish the garage....I am also going to try and make chocolate covered peanut butter eggs. I found a recipe online and have been craving them! (Not like they are going to help me lose any weight!) But ever since the Jersey girls told me about one of my former coworkers passing them out at work....I just can't get my mind off of it. (his wife made them every year around Easter and he always walked around the entire building and passed them out... it is such a special treat for everyone.) Anyways...we'll see how they go.

Oh yes...my 5K training is going good so far. I have done 7.5 miles in 2 days. I am going to have to purchase some new sneakers though....my feet have been killing me today...I had to wear sandals to work as my toes are aching!

Thanks for all of the support and comments! I love them all!

Happy Friday night! Enjoy the weekend...and don't forget....two more days to enter for the "Power of a Praying Wife" book contest~

My newest goal/challenge

Well...I have signed up for something I never thought I would sign up for......my very 1st 5K run in May! Nothing like last minute!

I was convinced today at work by a coworker of mine that my company is needing someone to represent the 30-34 year old women age group in the run. And that she thought myself and one other girl would be perfect.

I talked it over with hubby tonight and he thinks it is a great thing! I have printed out a 6 week workout program to get me ready....Day 1 starts tomorrow! No more lifting weights for a while...just running and walking.

My goal is not to finish first...but to finish strong and feel like I accomplished a goal of mine. Ms. Abs...where are you when I need you??? Want to move back and come running with me?? LOL!! If ony TearBear and you lived closer....you marathon queens! My two roommates that I had before marrying muscleman were avid marathon runners....I could use their help now! hehe

So there you have it...my newest adventure....and I am excited!

Don't forget...you have until Sunday to enter for the giveaway....come on people...don't be afraid to enter...heehee...even if you live far away....or I don't know you.......it's a great book that I am sure you will like!
