Me Weekend

That's right..I am about to start a ME weekend!! Hubby leaves today at 3:30 for his "GUY" trip and I will begin my projects promptly by 5:00 this evening! WOO HOO! I can't wait!

Yesterday at lunch I was out and about trying to get all the things I needed for the powder room project. I made a big decision in the paint color and it is total opposite of what I told you all it was going to be....so I am just going to surprise not only my Hubs...but you readers as well!

Thank you for the wonderful ideas and tips!  I went back and forth with adding the beadboard. I think I am confident enough to do it; I am just not sure I want it in this room since right outside the room is wainscoating. So I think that idea is out...but I am thinking about using it in another room in our house....I will have to wait and see how my first project alone goes first. ha! :)

So I am going to head out at lunch today to get the rest of my items I need and can't wait to get home and get started.  I have a lot I would LOVE to get accomplished....but am going to see how much I can get done tonight.

I have a special visitor coming to stay with me tomorrow night....can you guess who??? Only the cutest two year old ever! Or at least I think so! We are having a sleepover at my house tomorrow night. I plan on being exhausted once it is all over. But I really can't wait to play!

Don't you all worry..I will be taking PLENTY of pictures of EVERYTHING this weekend!  I can't wait!

Random thought - I am wearing this t-shirt for work today....and it is BRIGHT ORANGE...I mean I look like I should go and stand next to one of the MODOT cones along the road....or....I look like a very colorful pumpkin. I can't decide. Practically everyone working today is wearing one...to make it even better (or not)....it says not only on the front...but on the back to....and I quote "It's So On".....and our company name is on the top of it. The t-shirts are for the KC Corporate Challenge that begins with opening ceremonies tonight. The company I work for now is very spirited...more than my last company...and I guess I will be sporting orange on Fridays for like the next two months. I guess I won't have to worry about what I should wear on Fridays for awhile....that's a bright side to it. lol! Anyways...if you seen orange shirts around...you will know who we are! Hmmmm...I am going to Home Depot at lunch...hope that they don't put me to work.

That about wraps it up for me at this moment....more to come...stay tuned!

Goodbye Brown

Remember this posting from almost a year ago???  We had painted our powder room Piano Brown.  Well....I am so over the brown. I am tired of it. I don't like it at all....and I am feeling a change coming on.

Hubby is going on a trip this weekend.....know what that means???? I am going to paint the powder room all by myself and surprise him! I know he would like it changed too...but it isn't on his agenda any time soon. So I figure Friday night will be a good night to take this task on myself.

Now the next question is what color should I paint it?  I have been doing LOTS of research on this and I have narrowed the paint colors down to Restoration Hardware's Silver Sage or Benjamin Moore's Smoke colors.. Here are a few photos I have found of those who have used each color....

The question is...what do you all think? Or do you have any suggestions of another color to use? The brown just makes it so dark and almost like a cave. I have had enough of it. Part of me says I should try like a faux paint or some other textured paint...but I don't know if that is what it needs.

Would love to hear from you if you have any ideas....or if you have pictures of something you have done with your powder room that you love!

I will be heading to get the paint on Thursday...so I have just a few more days to decide!

My New Favorite Dress

I have a weakness....I cannot run into Target for just a few items. I can't. I have tried...and it just doesn't work. I was headed towards the men's department and BAM....there it was....this dress. It was calling my name....not kidding!  I love dresses and new I had the perfect black cardigan to wear with it...so I bought it..and I am sporting my new dress today at work. I am comfy and love it!

They had put out a whole bunch of new dresses within my view and I could have picked them all up...but opted for just this one..

The Target ad this week has all their dresses on sale...may have to swing by and check it out....I mean...seriously....dresses for under $20.00!!??? How can a girl go wrong with that!

Peaceful weekend

This has been a GREAT weekend....after the last two weeks not being the greatest...I happy to say that our weekend was great...and peaceful at our house.. Ahhhh...a much needed weekend indeed! I am so thankful!

The weather has been cool and rainy....so we pretty much hung out inside all weekend. We did go to the movie Clash of the Titans last night....which was not good at all. But at least we got out! :)

We spent a couple of hours on Saturday with an interior decorator.  I know..I haven't really mentioned anything about this....but we are changing our family room and are in need  of help with furniture placement. The awesome thing is that she does not charge by the hour...we just pay retail for the items. So we met her at a warehouse downtown and she had a couple of furniture set ups to see  and we fell in love with one.  The items won't be in for about 8 weeks, so we have some time to get ready.  I plan on putting a few items on Craigslist and then a few other items in our garage sale in May. Hopefully, we will have the entire room pretty much cleared out by the time the items arrive.

I am not going to share with you all any more about the room...it will be a surprise. All I can say it is going to be a totally different arrangement than what we currently have! And I can't wait!

I spent some time sewing some baby rag quilts yesterday afternoon and spent most of the day today cutting out more fabric. I have posted the fabric on my Anna Phyllis site! SO CUTE!

We also just hung out and took some much needed naps....as you can see from Bella....

Wishing I had one more day to this weekend....anybody else feel that way?  Off to bed I must go! Hoping you all enjoyed your weekend too!

Backyard view is a changing....

This posting is more for my family than anything. See how much our view out back is changing??  Continuing to pray for wonderful new neighbors! The home on the right was sold, but I believe that has fallen through...so they are both for sale now.

Below...you can see that the basement to the left has been poured too....won't belong now. Can't wait for all the construction to be over!

Our golf lessons were cancelled this evening due to the rain. I spent the evening sorting our storage stuff in the basement...prepping for a garage sale and Hubs spent the evening working on installing a new sump pump and batttery back up.  We also bought 9 things of insulation for the basement. We wanted to see how far one package would go.....who knows...we may get the basement insulated this weekend!

Never a dull moment!

The BIG screen

As promised...pictures of our new projector and screen for our basement. Hubby hung it up temporarily so that he could place the wire correctly. He was so excited that we tried watching a movie in lawn chairs Saturday evening...but it was too cool and uncomfortable. Another few weeks and we should at least have the insulation in and the drywall up.  Our goal is to have it all completed by October. Slowly...but surely we will get it done.

I can't wait until we can have movie nights downstairs!

Remember this?

This was the dresser from my grandparents house. I sanded it down, painted it and added some hardware and now it looks like this...............

I am not sure I have it in the spot i want it, but it gives you an idea of what I did with it.  I love the black and it is going to be great for storage in my office/craft room.

This week has gone by so fast. I kept thinking every night about updating my blog...but I am still working out a few kinks with my computer and our camera. More to come on that later on. I had hoped to post with some pictures, but brought the wrong cord to download photos. Geesh! If it isn't one thing it is another!

I ran home at lunch today as my Hubs went home sick from work. He just hasn't been sleeping very good lately and I think it has caught up with him. When I left he was already asleep in his recliner.  Hoping he feels better by the time I get home!!

Our first night of golf lessons was last night! I LOVED IT! LOVED LOVED LOVED! It is well worth our investment of $50.00 each! We signed up through our local community center versus the golf course...and the great part is that it is the same PGA Pro we would have used at our favorite golf course...except much less expensive for 5 sessions.  Had we signed up through the golf course it would have been $50.00 each session. See the savings???

I am already excited about next week. I have had my own clubs for a few years now and I typically go out with my Hubby and play a few times each year...but I always got so frustrated as I didn't know exactly what I was doing. Hubby has been playing longer than I have and he too enjoyed it last night. There are only 4 in our class, so we definitely get one on one time with the teacher.

I have already learned that whatever my Hubby taught me was incorrect. Females do things just a bit differently when golfing....so I have some things to work on until next Thursday. It is amazing though how much further I hit the ball when I adjust my stance and grip. So exciting! I might actually enjoy myself once this is all over!

When we got home last night, Hubs began putting together his new projector screen for the "mans cave"...aka...the basement.  I must admit that when he had this idea...I wasn't so sure about it...and then when he found this package deal on ebay...I was even more hesistant....but he set it up last night with our blue ray dvd player and bose sound system (which by the way...now that it is no longer in our family room...I can barely stand the sound of the regular tv speakers...sounds SO different)........SIMPLY AWESOME....I have a picture...the screen is HUGE....and once we get the basement finished....it is going to be so wonderful to have. I can't wait to show you all!

Of course...we are still needing to insulate, drywall, etc....so we have a ways to go...but we are making some progress.

I am so ready for the weekend! I have a list of things to get done...hoping to get some housework accomplished!

Pictures to come soon. Happy Friday!

What a morning!!

I use Bare Escentuals every morning...and this morning...as I was in a hurry (because I was procrastinating and wishing I could just stay home and enjoy the weather)...my all over face tanner SPILLED..and it is BROWN AND DARK...yes it spilled on my white counter top...in my makeup drawer that was open....on my hand...in my sink.

So I have a lots of clean up to do when I get home....UGH! Love the makeup....but because I am such a klutz...it is dangerous for me to use as I can be very messy.

That is how my morning started..,,,,

M.I.A.

I have been out of the loop for a few days. Sorry y'all!  The weekend came and went and I spent the majority of time outside or working on projects with my Hubs.  I am hoping that you all had a wonderful Easter!  I have no Easter pictures to bring you, but did attend a wonderful church service that morning. I don't know what I would do without my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  What a wonderful holiday to celebrate! :)

Yesterday, I took the day off and travelled up to my parents house for the day. A dear friend of  my family's (Floyd) passed away last week and his funeral was held yesterday afternoon. He and his wife (Charlotte) are the dearest and sweetest couple/neighbors that anyone could ask for. I have many fond memories of him and all the projects he would do around the countryside. He actually grew up in the house that my siblings and I grew up in and he had many stories to tell us about the history of the house and farm.  He will be missed. His wife, Charlotte, was one of my Grandma's dearest friends and I hope to get up to see her this summer and just spend a few hours with her...she has many recipes that I would love to get from her too....plus lots of stories about my Grandma.

So there you have it....a little bit about what has been going on with me.

I have found a new love...that I wanted to share with you all....have you seen it in the stores?? Maybe I am just behind in the times...but I had to buy it this weekend.....and both Hubs and I agree...it is good...and it doesn't taste like anything calorie free.....

I have also taken some pictures of what I have been doing outside in our yard....I have been doing a little planting....I decided to try and plant some pansies this year around our tree.

I also got a new hanging basket.....

Not sure how well these will do....but they are so pretty...and SMELL SO GOOD!
And....while I was out on Saturday morning...I found this wreath...and loved it the instant I saw it...plus it was 50% off!! Can't beat a deal!

And finally....I was outside on Saturday morning with Bella. We always cross the street and she does her duty in the empty lots....I kept hearing this knocking going on and couldn't figure out what it was...until I stared at the old tree long enough...and saw the Woodpecker just a pounding away. Love this tree and the birds it attracts.
Don't forget...you still have time to enter into my flip flop giveaway....the contest closes on the 12th!

Happy Tuesday!
